The Sacramento Interfaith Climate March on November 1 was blessed with cleansing rain and over 100 participants. A group of wonderful speakers from 7 different faiths inspired us with the wisdom and compassion of their traditions:

  • Diana Almendariz, Cultural Practitioner, Maidu/Patwin-Wintun/Hupa/Yurok
  • Jon Fish, President of the Interfaith Council of Greater Sacramento
  • Rabbi Nancy Wechsler from Congregation Beth Shalom in Carmichael,
  • Dean Brian Baker, Dean of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Sacramento
  • Imam Kashif Ahmed, SALAM, Sacramento
  • Brother Mark Schroeder, a Franciscan friar from St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Sacramento
  • Ayya Santussika, a Buddhist nun from Compassion Monastery in Mountain View.

Hydrological scientist Bill Hardy from the U.S. Geological Survey, as well as County Supervisor Phil Serna from the California Air Resources Board, offered also short speeches.

Thank you to the organizing team and to all who supported the march with their presence!
